OH MY GOD GUYS
Jul. 8th, 2009 08:15 amTODAY I WAS AT THE ATHENIAN ACROPOLIS.
THE ATHENIAN
ACROPOLIS
I SAW THE PARTHENON WITH MY OWN TWO EYEEEES
Allcaps appropriate amirite.
Also I now have my very own Nike of Samothrace, Winged Victory. She only cost me 13 Euros. And she is big. And I don't know how I am going to carry her around for the next five months but you know whatever I have Nike of Samothrace! In Paris, the same statue was over 50 Euros sooo I am pretty happy because mine is from Athens.
Also I want to get a little Bronze Athenian helmet. Mm. Athens is way awesome too, everything is reasonably priced, especially the monuments.
It only costs 6 Euros for Students to get a 4 day pass to the Acropolis, the Ancient & Roman Agoras, the Temple of Zeus, and several other Ancient sites. It's crazy!
And I also sat in the theatre of Dionysus. Yes. I did.
And now... I go!
Hope everyone is having a good time. Oh yeah, I hope Terracon went well for everyone!
SPEAKING OF TERRACON.
A half litre bottle of Bacardi is 9 Euros here. That's like $18. And in Rome, you can buy a bottle of wine for ONE EURO.
We're not really drinking/partying much because you know, we can do it at home and hangovers waste/ruin days, but yeah, it is pretty exciting seeing those kinds of prices. Thought I'd share. :P

Date: 2009-07-10 07:33 pm (UTC)It's tiiiiiiny. Like I could put it on my thumb but that would be it. The ones that are big enough to wear actually aren't as good as the small ones. It's... strange.
UM!
Actually I will be back in Athens for one more night next week before flying to Rome. So you could if you want! Er, yeah. I do have my phone, it's just expensive to call or whatever, I don't know if I will have internet on the islands. Um. THINGS.
! The temple of Zeus is MAAASSSIVE.
The birthplace of civilization! :) I am way fangirling Greece hardcore.

Date: 2009-07-11 01:58 am (UTC)Don't call! Don't waste the money internet is fine!
(How much, in Australian dollars do you think it would cost.)
Don't worry if it takes away time from anything good.
(Maybe I should just send you money, for shipping and goods and you could just send something back).
But it's just an idea! I don't want it to detract from your holiday!

Date: 2009-07-15 09:14 pm (UTC)I'm sorry Danica but my ferry back to Athens was delayed by FIVE HOURS and so by the time I got back to the city the shops were closed. :(
But! If there is something else cool that you want try to let me know or something, and something.

Date: 2009-07-16 12:36 am (UTC)Email me bank details (so you don't have to worry about this) and a number. And then just buy A THING that you think IS COOL and then mail it back WITH MY MONEY. Because this is cool and I don't want you carrying around a thing for 6 months because that would suck (but postage can be LAME).
