Hah, this show is so dumb.

Also my hours got cut from 3-9 to 3-7! LAAME! :( :( I am going to be so hideously poor, um, forever.

This is a meme that I stole from [livejournal.com profile] caketime!

[01] Do you have the guts to answer these questions and re-post as The Controversial Survey?
Three guesses.

[02] Would you do meth if it was legalized?
Not a chance in China, as they say.

[03] Abortion: for or against it?
Yes, I think it should be legal and accessible. I don't have a problem with abortion in general, because as I see it, foetus is not equal to baby or person, especially not in the early stages of pregnancy. Potential isn't reality. Just because I have the potential to do well, doesn't mean that I have already done well. It's not a good metaphor, but yeah. Things. A foetus isn't a person.

[04] Do you think the world would fail with a female president?
Oh, Americans meme writer, you amuse me.
Obviously the world wouldn't fail with a female "president." If there was such a thing as a "world president," it wouldn't matter what sex/gender they were, as long as they knew how to preside over things. Govern, and such. The quality of leadership depends on the individual and their supporting team, not their gender.

[05] Do you believe in the death penalty?
I believe that it exists, yes.
Well, this is tricky. I suppose I don't, because it's so hard to be certain, and death is, obviously, irreversible. On the other hand though, I think it's terrible that a person can conceivably take someone else's life, their one, finite chance at existence, and then continue to enjoy their own. Even life sentences aren't really life sentences. And life in prison is still life.
I think I will say, in the end, that the death penalty isn't appropriate though, because of the fallibility of the justice system, I guess. ALTHOUGH wrongfully imprisoning someone for 25 years... that's pretty bad, too. (Though I think this is actually pretty rare, and I do think that in general the justice system or what I know of it works. I'm just not convinced that it's infallible, so I guess that means to me that irreversible actions like execution obviously aren't a good idea.)

[06] Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
I don't really have an opinion on this. It's pretty harmless, I think. Why not, legalisation means standardization, which I guess mean it becomes safer.
Thinking about it, if alcohol wasn't currently legal, it probably wouldn't be. Which isn't entirely relevant to the question, but yeah.

[07] Are you for or against premarital sex?
What?
I was going to say "I don't care what other people do as long as I don't have to watch it," but I think I will add more, though it's not about pre-marital sex, because I really don't see why two consenting adults can't do whatever they want. And that includes not getting married if they want to. Though to be honest I don't personally understand de-facto relationships - why not get married? I mean, what do you lose? Though I suppose their case might be "why get married," so it's just a differing of opinion.
But that thing about "consenting adults" I do have an opinion on. I know that the idea of controlling under-age sex is equally as impossible as (though not as ludicrous) controlling the existence or not of premarital sex, but seriously, how the fuck are 13 year olds going around and getting pregnant? SERIOUSLY. It should be banhammered.

[08] Do you believe in God?
Um. I used to. It kind of makes me sad that I don't really accept the God that I used to think existed. I'm definitely not an atheist, but I don't really believe in any organised religion any more. I do like the idea of a kind of thing that everything comes from and returns to, a kind of thing that exists in everything. It's probably largely wanting to believe in things that is the basis of this belief though.
Oh, I also find the power of words interesting. As in, I like the idea of prayer, the idea of a set of words which thousands of people have said with such feeling so many times, meaningless words which are given meaning by people's belief in them. I don't know. I like things.

[09] Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?
Hell, yes.
Love is love.

[10] Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?
Well, illegal immigration is illegal. So dictionary-wise, I guess it's wrong, because illegal means wrong. More or less.
But I don't know anything about the subject, so no comment.
Someone did make an interesting point about this though (can't remember where I read it). It went something like this:
Hispanic people are going to the US illegally and working for less than the minimum wage.
This means that American people are losing jobs.
If the Hispanic people were paid a proper, legal wage, like they should be, then they wouldn't be "stealing" jobs because they would be employed by their own merit, rather than because they are willing to work more for less money.
The person who originally brought this up put it much better. It was something to do with some guy bitching about Hispanic people stealing the jobs of "real" Americans because they were willing to work really hard for unfair wages, and then the guy who wrote the thing pointed out that the American guy who thought that Hispanic people didn't deserve full wages, was actually causing the original phenomenon thing.

[11] A twelve year old girl has a baby, should she keep it?
Sweet Zombie Jesus No. No. No. Not even if the parents were to raise the baby. Either abort it, or give it up for adoption. But I don't even think that a 12 year old girl should be carrying a baby to term. So I would vote abort it, and then ground the shit out of that kid. Probably also have some serious talks, within that whole thing.
I'm quite lazy, so I'm probably not making this easy to understand.

[12] Should the alcohol age be lowered to eighteen?
Hahah. It, um, is.
21 is a pretty high drinking age. I think 18 is a good age because it (probably) lowers incidences of under-age drinking. But whatever.
I'd like to see what America's assumed levels of under age drinking is, next to Australia's (where the age is 18), and somewhere where the drinking age is lower. I think it would be interesting.

[13] Should the war in Iraq be called off?
Hm. I'm not sure. I do believe that you should finish what you start though. I don't think that people can just leave Iraq all messy and war-torn without doing something about it.

[14] Assisted suicide is illegal: do you agree?
It depends on what kind of "assisted suicide" you're talking about. Euthanasia, I think, should be legal in some circumstances because there are circumstances where the quality of life is so low, and there is no possibility of getting better. Trapped in my own body, my mind completely intact, and unable to move or communicate? I don't know. I think when there is life there is hope, but... Well.
But then that puts even more pressure on the doctor. They already have a really hard job in terminally ill or seriously ill patients. I think Euthanasia in some ways could make it harder still. "So, you're sure you can't do anything for me and that I won't get better?"
I don't think that assisted suicide, depression-wise, should be legal. Because... well, people who survive depression can get better. You only live once.
It's difficult.

[15] Do you believe in spanking your children?
Dunno, never been a parent. There are probably better ways but who knows? Obviously beating is different from a disciplinary tap.

[16] Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?
Yep.
A million dollars? Seriously? Yes. But then I'm not American.
And burning doesn't automatically mean disrespecting.

[17] Who do you think would make a better president? McCain or Obama?
Well, Obama doesn't seem to stand for things that I hate or against things that I support, so if I was American, I would vote for that guy.

[18] Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
No. Hopefully it will make some interesting conversation, though?

I...would hope you would talk to the kid...like a lot. Forcing the child to have an abortion would be pretty traumatic too, though admittedly you didn' say you would FORCE the child, just vote for it. Grounding probably isn't the reaction I would have there. This answer...concerns me Meghan.

THIS IS THE INTERNET SAFETY SMILEYS ARE REQUIRED.

For instance:

Example one:

I am going to rape you. <--- This is a very weird and possibly scary threat.

I am going to rape you :P <--- This is two people playing videogames.

I'm pretty sure you referenced WISHING TO SEE ME NAKED today without a smilie.

Internet violation section 189b.

Why are there so many rules?
I use smileys too much, and when I don't use them, I get into trouble. :(

Also yeah, that is a really good example ^_^

Well yeah, the serious and lengthy, lengthy talks would be more important than the grounding, if grounding would be involved.
However, I do think that serious actions have to have serious repercussions. Obviously I would put more thought into it In Real Life, but I'm pretty sure there would be some kind of punishment involved, since my hypothetical child would be told about the nature of things and action/reaction at an age. It would have to be very, very clear that this is not the thing to do, but also I guess that I could be spoken to about Things and am not a Nazi monster.Or the fun police.
I think a change of school would be involved. Because clearly, the friendship group there is not a good one. Maybe. I don't know. I don't presume to be ready to do parent things yet, at all. But I do know that there would be dire consequences. Dire.

Hm, I wouldn't force the child to have an abortion but to be quite honest I don't think that 12 year olds are in a position to make that decision. And I'm not sure it would be good for them physically either. They wouldn't be keeping it though.

Although I SUPPOSE if this happened it would also be a situation with failure as a parent too, so all of the punishment can't fall on the kid. It is a complex and manifold situation.

Being flip is fun though.
