Bands that I now turn up every time they come up on the Party Shuffle but before this year I didn't even know existed (or only vaguely knew about) and also particularly good songs by them
Mindless Self-Indulgence
Pain
Elanor Rigby Cover is awesome
Save Me
Fade Away
Porcupine Tree
Fear Factory
Opeth
Babylon Whores (not only are their songs good, their name is incredibly amusing to me.)
Hell Abloom
(I can't remember if I started listening to them last year but:)
FALCONER
Manowar
Bands that I like, but I'm not entirely sure how I feel about overall ("It's not you, it's me, I think we should take a break" ... haha)
Clutch (I don't know yet. It's all a bit blokey for me or something.)
KMFDM (One or two great songs, other... average ones?)
Bands that I knew about, but have greatly disappointed me. BITTERLY, even. In fact the more forms of text enhancement, the more bitter the disapointment.
Pantera (just seem to suck, I don't know. I'm not disappointed because their name's not that cool)
Mastodon (so disappointed. So many good song/album titles involving megafauna and other awesomage, awesome name, disappointing songs.)
Nine Inch Nails(I expected... something earth moving?)
MUSE : THE SINGER'S REALLY LOUD GASPY INHALATION IS THE MOST IRRITATING THING I HAVE EVER HEARD. ALL THE MORE ANNOYING BECAUSE WITHOUT IT THEY WOULD BE FANTASTIC.
Tool (Okay so I haven't listened much yet, but it wasn't what I expected. And this isn't.. hm. Maybe consider this one to be more of a general "confusion" rather than "disappointment")
Bands I had heard about but never listened to but now listen to and enjoy
Motley Crue
Monster Magnet
King of Mars
Queens of the Stone Age
Faith No More
Jane's Addiction
Current List of Favourite Bands (For interest's sake?)
silverchair
Rage Against the Machine
Led Zeppelin (oh how could I forget you, I am so sorry)
Falconer
Magic Dirt
System of a Down
The Smashing Pumpkins
I have a conundrum to put forth to you, dear LJ.
You see, every day around midafternoon (which for me, by the way, is about 4 o'clock, because... well there's a whole lot of PM in a day you know.) I have my 4-5pm break (okay, so it's exactly 4 o'clock but whatev). Now, this is because by 4pm my brain is fried and I couldn't give an arse rats (whether I lives or dies) about Architecture any more, so I do something like take the dog for a walk or pwn some monsters. BUT this does not cure the slump in productivity! So is it worth taking a dangerous 2 hour break? Maybe a bit later in the day, like 6t-8 (because it's much more pleasant working when it's light?). It's not worth breaking up the break into little bits, because that actually just feels like no break at all and I don't actually manage to peel my brain away from architecture.
(Btw this is the first Mastodon song I've liked - and it's an instrumental)
Also can someone prrrrzzzz send me some Nightwish when they had that female singer that everyone raves about, because I would like to see if she could be added to my list of "the only two women ever to be able to do rock without making it too soft." (In my experience, girls just don't like yelling enough. If I could sing better, (or if I could play guitar better, or both) I promise I would be a proper rock chick and yell more. BUT ALAS I HAVE NO TIME FOR REALISING MY MUSICAL HERITAGE, OH THE TRAVESTY

I love influencing people's musical tastes) said she liked wolfmother. But she's fifteen...and Japanese. Both are pretty good excuses for not knowing better
