Isnt' that a beautiful name? Unsurprisingly, it's one which Hathor would answer to.

Writing this essay is hilarious.
Thought process -
Mastabas, yes, I think that's enough about that. Oh, woot, a reliable reference to back that up. Good. Do I need to talk about Narmer? I dunno, he was pretty cool. No. He's irrelevant. Well, you can mention him. Can you reference him? No. So don't mention him. Okay. Mention the unification of upper and lower egypt, that's pretty important. Okay, that's done. Alright. Enough about Narmer. On to the Old Kingdom! Zoser, here I come.

Trying to figure out how many years is between two BCE times hurts my brain.
Which do you think is classier to use, the traditional "Before Christ" or the new, politically-correct "Before Common Era"? although I normally shy away from ridiculous new politically correct terms, I've decided to go with BCE for this essay because adding that E just makes it kind of exotic (or something. I'm sure I'll get over it)

!!! I bother to look up dates for something and I get conflicting evidence - evidence that says the Great Pyramid of Giza was built only 8 years before the Stepped Pyramid of Saqqara!! (Which is for the record, the first Pyramid, from the THIRD Dynasty. Khufu is from the Fourth Dynasty, and separated by a good two Pharaohs. Egypt did not go through Pharaohs every four years, there was no four-yearly federal election to choose the man that would be Horus On Earth.
*grumbles*

"In c.2594BCE, a mere... LOL EIGHT YEARS"

!! halfway there

"...Tutankhamen began building a temple, and its construction was soon sufficiently advanced to set up his own statues in it. Ai, who had aquired the wife and the throne of Tutankhamen, had no scruples about appropriating the statues as well."
LOL.

Want to know why I'm still writing this essay? Because I thought to myself "there is still so much room for awesome in this essay, why not put it in since you don't feel like sleeping anyway"

CANDLES

O shit six am
O Shit seven am!

WOOO Eight AM, that's my record.
Whee, Egyptian All-Nighter. I sleep.
Like Right now.

That was...entertaining to read. I really love Egypt, but I probably wouldn't if I had to stay up all night writting essays about the unification of the upper and lower kingdoms. You should write about the Hyskos! Moving vehicles! Mass slaughter! FUN!

Ohhhh the battle between the Hyskos and the Egyptians (Paroh Mamose I THINK, or lady Lostris, or Tamose, or something...) went on for YEARS. The egyptians fled to africa, developed a chariot, and took those little Hyskos on, and FINALLY won. Absolute slaughter though. For both sides. W00t! Wilbur Smith wrote a great book about it called River God, which is actually based on fact (apparently)

Aye me hearty, Surf Science, well sortof. Its a unit called Geomorphology of Coastal Sediments, in non weird geo terms: its all about beach sand, how it got there why it stays there and where its going... sigh not the most exciting unit ever. But we get to go the beach for a field trip. :D
