How do you rig it so that your header (in my case my name and student number) actually only appears "from this point forward" in a Word Doccument? I don't want it on the first page because I already have my name on that one and it looks dumb. :)
It's driving me batty.
Essay fun.
Carried away a bit though. Oh well. I suppose that can't be a bad thing, right? It's like the Cistercians & Templars essay all over again, 'sept for I already know this stuff. For serious, I know it like you wouldn't believe, or something. I had however forgotten that sometimes Djoser is spelt Zoser. And the thing I didn't know, not actually relevant to essay, but the Ba was originally depicted as a stork, not a bird with a man's head. Interesting huh? Plus "shoot" is more commonly spelt "shut" or something, which doesn't surprise me because "shoot" struck me as a very un-Egyptian spelling, but I wasn't going to argue with Charlie. Oh no.

Back to writing!
(yes. I'm not actually making that much progress because
1. I keep reading stuff that, while about Egypt, bears very little or no relevance to my topic
2. I keep going off on wild tangents/too much detail for a meagre 2500 word essay.)

My topic, by the way, is "DISCUSS THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ANCIENT EGYPTIAN ROYAL TOMB FROM ITS ORIGINS (CIRCA 3000 BC) TO THE ROCK-CUT TOMB OF THE NEW KINGDOM." That is in all caps because my essay header is in Word Smallcaps and I am far too lazy to re-type it all just for you, livejournal. So, sorry, kinda.

Instead of typing your info into the header on the first page, type it in on the second. It'll be on all pages but the first.
(I found this out 2 days ago :D)

The other thing to do is do the cover page in a seperate document

Myeees :D
I hope so! I hope you don't roll your eyes and go "lol" or something like that, that'd make me sad.

YES, I AM HIGH ON EGYPTOLOGY. WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT.

/crazy.
Sorry I keep giving you these random comments of crazybatshitinsaneobsessed, I know you've come to expect it by now but I suppose I am taken aback by my fervent addiction to ancient Egypt. I keep capitalizing that 'a' when I shouldn't, by the way, makes me sad.

He, no lol's, I pwomis :)

Why dost thou apologise for such a thing? It makes me happy to rant too, and be ranted at about stuff I havn't been able to rant about or be ranted at about in ages... If you catch my drift. In conclusion, ranting is good. My own addiction is slipping towards Rome. My theory is it's going forwards in time, but so far it hasn't moved much from late Republic Rome, which was the bestest time. Weee.
Aww, so that (a not A) applies to all ancient cultures? How rude.

lols

Huzzah for ranting! :D
I've suspected this for some time, you know. Ever since those Caesar books, you know the ones. Yes. I knew... or something. Nyaww *ruffles hair*
I found THE BEST Egypt shop in the Freo Markets. It has good statues. I'm going to get one or a million of their wares. :)

Indeed! That's what I thought too, since ancient Egypt and Egypt are two distinctly different cultures, now. Saying Ancient Egypt and Egypt instantly clears up confusion, and without the capital it's just not the same.

My secret's out:)
Hey, didn't you find that a few years ago? Or was that the Medieval shop(pe)? Oh, are the statues accurate? I think I may actually have perused their wares some time ago, I got some scarabs and teensy sarcophagi. 'Tis brillig:)
It cheapens it somehow, as if ancient culture was less than modern culture. Perhaps calling it by the name the ancient (wah) Egyptians called it would help clear up misconceptions. If only I could remember what it was called...

Um, there was one in the E-shed markets years and years ago, from which I got an Anpu head, ushabti, wejat eye and scarab, but I don't think this is the same one, because it's in the Freo markets. Their statues are as bout as accurate as one can hope for cheap statues to be :)

I believe they called it Keb, the Black Land? Or something that sounds like Keb. This book says they called it "Kem-T" but I'd never heard of that before. Both seem fairly unlikely, since the Egyptians didn't write vowels :D
but what are you going to do? I don't think English can get by without them, really.
Unless you're a fly that lives in the sky. Or a fly named sky. Or something. But then if you're a crazy American that doesn't even work. Y IS NOT A VOWEL, PEOPLE
