Hehe. I found my little book of quotes from 12 History classes when trying to find paper to write study stuff on. That one amused me. So did:

"I know what I have to write..."
"The truth?"
"...I put good over lawful."

I don't remember what our little discussion there was about, [livejournal.com profile] lone_one, but I suspect it might have been... Grad books?

I've found... or, well, the uni has found this delightful little studying website, which I am using at the moment for Psych. I'm actually making an absurd amount of progress considering it's The First Day. Er, I don't know whether it'll hold up.

Oh noes! Nanowrimo!Afternoon of The First Day. Mayhap I will study by day, and work on that by night. It seems a good plan. Bwahahahah.

Oh! I called the Places, and got a call back today. Since there are like 9 positions for Museum Curating (??) in WA, and all of them are presently filled, I don't know what to dooo... I can do volunteer work though. Joy... ! Er, I called Mr. Miller too, and talked about Teaching. GASP! I know. I think I might do that. Architect lady is obviously too good to call me back. Which I guess is ok, because our phone is fucked. If you need to call me! Call my mobile!

Ghan, out.

It's all fun and games until someone looses an eye.
Then it's fun and games
with the eye.

[Edit: What is everyone else doing Nanowrimo calling themselves on the website? I want to add firendses. Hehe. I am Ghan there... shock! heh. I go now...]
[Edit: bwahahah. I have added some people who I found by my terrifying mind-skillz. But perhaps there are more of you...?]

History 233 History in Fantasy/Fantasy in History

Content: "In a faraway galaxy, long, long ago..." Fantasy and Science Fiction are vital aspects of the modern mentality, as reflected in the resonance of this epigraph from the Star Wars films, the vast popularity of Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, or the flourishing subculture which has developed around Star Trek. This unit examines genre fantasy and science fiction in their historical context, and at the same time considers how their 'historical imaginary' has contributed to the modern world. The utopian and dystopian futures imagined in Science Fiction; imaginary histories of high fantasy, the eschatological vision of dying earth science-fantasy -- are analysed in their historical and ideological dimensions. Students engage with primary sources, including film, and with the sophisitcated critical and contextual studies that have accumulated around these texts. The unit thus enhances students' grasp of contemporary cultural studies in its fruitful marriage to cultural history and the history of ideas.

Assessment: This comprises an in-class assessment exercise (15%), a 3000 word primary source based research essay (40%), tutorial presentation (15%) and a final examination or reflective essay (30%)

Unit Coordinator: Associate Professor Rob Stuart

Contact Hours -- lectures: 20 hours; tutorials: 10 hours

IS THIS UNIT FULL OF CRACK OR WHAT?
other than that, I'd be quite interested in doing it.
