I agree... the amount of men and women who have died because of what the flag means... and as much as the whole 'Queen' thing is annoying our history will always be that of the commonwealth.
men and women who have died because of what the flag means
This is my opinion, the flag is important only in what it represents. Personally I don't much for the whole nationalistic attitude that people died for a flag, or for the nation. I would like to think that they died for their fellow men and women, defending their freedom and our way of life.
It does not matter if the flag is changed to be all orange, and the country's name is changed to "Boringland", it is the people, the citizens that make this nation what it is, and they are the thing we should fight for.
However, I may be totally wrong in the opinion of everyone else.
Hm, yes, but it's the symbol that they fought and died under. Because we all know that, the flag says without words all of those things, in my opinion. However, I agree that people would die for their nation, as "nation" encaptulates (if that is even a word) all that is our way of life.
Hm, seeing as it's an opinion you can't be wrong :p
