My Mum and I went shopping for some things for my (well I guess our... Gavin & I) trip! It was exciting.
I don't know why, but getting things for the trip makes it seem much more real than getting the tickets did. I suppose tickets are really just bits of paper, and don't really give you any sense of going away.
Buying a $15 travel hairdryer though? Yeah, that's a lot more exciting.
I'm so weird, aren't I?
Ok. So now - tripspam.
I dunno, I guess I'll put it in a cut to avoid irking people. :P
So I got the aforementioned travel hairdresser. It's Remington, which is the same brand as my hair straightener, and it seems pretty good quality so I'm pretty happy. Though for $15 (whoo staff discounts!) I don't terribly care. It's shiny and it smells nice. Btw, did Remington used to be called Lady Remington?
Aaaand I got a European phrase book from dymocks. ♥ Which personally I think will be very useful. Look at all the things I cansay write now!
"Nemluveem česky!" - I can't speak Czech
"Hvor er toilettet?
Undskyld!!
Det ma De meget undskylde!
Jeg ma afsted nu." (Danish... I decided to be immature/funny then - Where is the toilet? Sorry!! I'm really sorry. I must go now.")
"Ik begrijp het niet" - I don't understand - Dutch
"Onko opaskoirilla paasy sinne? " - Are guide dogs allowed? - Finnish. That's funny, I thought guide dogs were allowed everywhere/not actually treated as dogs? Not that I need one, it's just interesting.
Hagyjon beken! - Go away! - Hungarian - do they have a lot of insistant salespeople, or something? I was going to find "I'm hungry," but then I got bored
wow German has craaaaaaaaaazy letters (though I suppose I haven't looked at Greek yet)
"Ich weiɮ nicht" - I don't know - Ok, I have no idea what that character is actually meant to be. It looks kind of like the one in the book. I know how to pronounce it though, and that's what counts right?
Ok bored with phrasebook now :P
I got some luggage padlocks... I know, I know, I should have gotten normal small locks but these ones are brightly coloured... and they'll like, be distinctive. Yep.
(MINE ARE PURPLE)
A sekrit documents holder for under de clothes. It's waterproof. Yeah. Yeeeah.
And I got a handy handout which tells me the voltage of aaaall the countries. Because some countries have different voltages, don'cha know. I did, so I checked that my appliances have a large voltage range so it doesn't matter anyway. But yeah. Sometimes you need a stepdown transformer. Luckily I"m not going to America anyway, but still. Benefits of working in an electronics store. :)
Aand I got a new handbag >_> <_< no I did need it! I needed one with more compartments, and a more appropriately placed zipper, and a shorter arm strap so that it sits right under my arm. See, I did need these things. I also wanted one that wasn't so BAM BLING because my current one was a 21st present from my Aunty who, bless her heart, likes that kind of thing. I like it because it's GREEN but, it is very conspicuous. And I don't want to look like someone who might have a lot of valuable things in their handbag, y'know? So this one is brown and red and much more sedate. It's also slightly less fragile.
It was also marked down to $30 from $100 so it's probably pretty well made. AND YES, I do feel like I got a bargain. Mmm. Leathery goodness.
Lol /girl
And I got a toiletries baag. :) It's small which is good, and has waterproof compartments, so I can have dry things in one bit and wet in the other.. very practical. And you can hang it from the door! It folds out! It's amazing. It came with a free purse too. Lol trinkets...
Oh it's this bag! And that is the freebie.
:S
Yeeeees.... So that's... that's all, I think. Yep.
