ithika: (I can think of one - me)

Well, I'm back

This week was interesting. It did turn out to be God Week, as foreseen by a fair few, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been. I'm still a little dissapointed - I went in with an open mind ["allright! inspire me!"] and I was kinda let down. We didn't really do any self discovery stuff, just the regular RE be nice, God is a cool guy stuff. Don't have a problem with it, because you can gain from any and every situation. every situation, and I really do believe that. However, did have good conversations with friends, and did get to know people better, and did enjoy letter-recieving, and apparantly there's more to come! Whee! [Poppa was in hospital, Mar Mar's letter got all confused and went back to her...] Also, Lucas is cool.
But still no epiphony, no magical clarity all of a sudden. I didn't expect it, honestly, but it would be nice to know where I'm headed, along the great path of life.
Saw Shrek 2, in other news, and it 0wnZ0r3d. Yep.
However, bad things came from the camp, too - the people I disliked before I now have a healthy loathing for, for example.
However, I have decided on two things, which I am pleased with [open to debate, but... not really]
  • I believe that if you put a cat in a box, the cat is dead, alive, existant and nonexistant in the same moment, until you open the box. The potential for any of those things is there, in equal and infinite possibilities. However, if you open the box, the cat, by your perception, is forced to appear in one way, because the human mind can't comprehend something being itself and not itself simultaneously. But if you leave the box there, you'll never know what's happening inside the box.
And no, you can't make a clear box.
I think that that has to do with dimensions, as well. You can't percieve all possibilities at once, because, you just can't. There's no "if you practise", or "If you squint", you simply Can not see something as many things simultaneously - we don't have any capacity for infinity. This is something humanity can not overcome, because we can't percieve the other dimensions that exist, and we can't move through them, which brings me to my next point
  • Time travel, I believe, is possible, but only in one circumstance - that time is static, and we move through it, not that we are static and time moves around us. And time can not only be static, but it must also be pre-determined. And there is no way that you can say or can disagree in pre-determined events - destiny. However, time travel would only be possible if everything is laid out. Because if it's not, you would travel into nothing, which is another thing that human beings are simply completely incapable of doing.
Time has to be pre determined, because then you would never actually move backwards, and you would never actually change anything. And one person cannot move forward by themselves, everyone moves forwards, it's simply their perception which alters the speed of their passing.
Time wouldn't change because you were always going to "return" to a time. This is, again, only perception - you simply think you have returned to a past time because it's unfathomable that something can happen twice, perfectly duplicating something that has already happened. An example, which I was talking about with [livejournal.com profile] lone_one last night, was Donnie Darko. I don't think Donnie moved backwards at all. I think he was always headed in that direction, and it's simply perception that creates the illusion, the expectation of time travel.

Had to put all that down, you see.

Completely agreed on the second.

Horrified at your use of the term "dimensions."

I suggest that you check my explosion in [livejournal.com profile] lone_one's LiveJournal.

YAY Dimensions...
You know I cannot understand how there can be a one dimension... I can't see it. Alex tried explaining by saying it is a line. As in just height... but how can there be only one plain? You wouldn't be able to see the line if it didn't have width! Anyway what is it with dimensions, how they say the fourth dimension is time.. where did that come from? What is the reasoning behind it? And I had many a conversation regarding dimensions to Harmony, (as nerds like us do) and I have a theory that we can only see the dimension below us and ours. I mean, maybe a 2D person could see the first dimension, and another thing that is really cool is the fact that four dimensional people could be walking right through our walls and through us and we wouldn't know.
I tried really hard to visualise a four dimensional object but it is beyond comprehension, I felt very inadequate and limited after that for a while. Did you know a four dimensional object will have a 3D shadow... cool huh. (Why do I always think of a cube when someone says 3D?)

As to time; well I won't touch that with a ten foot pole. Although I can see the reasoning behind time being predetermined, I still contest it. Perhaps it is not predetermined... it just is.

Yeah, I agree that there has to be dimensions. *nods*

Whoah, a 3D shadow? Crazy...
And yes, I agree with that as well, but you can only see your own dimension, and the dimension below you. Because I can't imagine anything 1D, you see? So There could be, like you said, so many more things than what we can see, and, if they're higher than the 4th Dimension, than they wouldn't be able to see us, either, or anything we see.

...Cool.

Hm, that's possible too, but that would make time travel impossible, wouldn't it?

[identity profile] uruserce.livejournal.com 2004-06-20 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
How do you time travel? Time travel would not go by seconds, minutes and hours, seeing as we made them up... and couldn't time actually be place? Instead of time traveling you are just moving to a place. Really they are the same thing... hmm. Because as time goes, change constantly happens. YES! So if time merely was, then it would be defined better as exactly how a certain place is at any given time. Which would make time travel to the past easy enough, but to the future impossible to predict!
And nothing is ever the same again, and no place can be exactly duplicated so that could be seen as time, which can never be the same because we made it so. And we probably did that because a place will look the same to us... sweet. The world becomes slightly clearer to me. (and no doubt foggier to you due to my incoherent ramblings)

*head explodes*

actually... that's... very... *screams and jumps out a window*

actually pretty.. yes.
I agree

[identity profile] uruserce.livejournal.com 2004-06-27 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
*pokes corpse* D'oh third time today...

Oh and to add to that. Time travel would be extremely hazardous because if going to future, and miscalculating could put you in another parallel universe! WOW

Okay leaving

[identity profile] bloodied-aura.livejournal.com 2004-06-27 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
that could be fun, but, of course, getting back... oh ho ho, so not happening

[identity profile] uruserce.livejournal.com 2004-06-27 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
I'd say. Too bad so sad, you'd have to come back to BEFORE you left, otherwise you'd be in for it

[identity profile] louisthefly.livejournal.com 2004-06-20 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
have you read the little prince?
just out of curiosity. it's a very good little french book

[identity profile] bloodied-aura.livejournal.com 2004-06-25 08:47 am (UTC)(link)
no, I haven't. I shall make a point of doing so. However, I don't speak French, but will carry on regardless

[identity profile] louisthefly.livejournal.com 2004-06-27 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
of course it's translated into english
in french it's le petit prince, by Antione de Saint Exupery (excuse my laziness for not including accents)
and i can't read french either, above really really (and i mean really) basic stuff

[identity profile] bloodied-aura.livejournal.com 2004-07-06 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
hehehe. brilliant
