I think I can **see** my past melting away

Wow. It's highly unlikely that anyone other than marmot_pie will remember the hours [and I do mean hours] of boundless joy that this site brought in early to late 2001 [damn! 2001! I forgot it was such a while...], but, hell, I'm gushing anyway.
Anyway, back to the story!
I was bored, and so I decided to go a-surfing, I did, and remember the good times, well, the early times, when I thought lol had something to do with lolling, as in, rolling around. Like a panting dog's tongue.

this was the old times, before I was fully aware of fanfiction, hell, I was only really getting to know the internet then, [maybe a slight exaggaration], and, I'd only just gotten over Pok'emon *cough*.
I can still remember the first time I saw this site. It was marmot_pie who found it, if I recall, and on the second-from-the-right computer in the library in the morning, and Danika had found something she found very amusing. It appeared to be a list of quotes, and my, but were they funny. One of them was something to do with a certain character's hair, and.. I don't remember it now, but I wrote it in my yr 9 organizer. Yes! It was Digimon! And the site was DigiExperience.com. From that morning on I spent every moment I was online there, for a good year or so of my life. I was Animie Chick [yes, guh. Don't, don't ask, don't say anything. It's bad enough that I misspelled Anime, but I had to have Chick in there too... just... ugh.], and I lived at the fanfic forum, which to this day is just about the only forum I've ever really gotten involved in, made friends on. I can remember Golden, [GOLDEN, actually] and Taiisthemon, and Mikomi, and Sora. I remember the surprise at finding out Golden was only 12, that Taiisthemon [Ty] was actually a girl, and the whole episode with Ty and Sora... And the episode with the supposed hacker 'Timmy', who didn't really exist at all.
And so I searched Digimon Experience on google, and for the first time in 3 years I went back to that site...
and... It had closed!!!
You have no idea how surprised I am that this made me sad.
And as I was reading the site history, and the fan letters, I came across the name of the site-running-type-dude, Raidix. The first internet personality that I held in awe, ever.
I'm not sure why, but reading the name brought back all the memories, the good times, the worries, and a sad longing to return just once to the fanfic forum. :(
You know, the Digimon Experience, I remember now, was one of the chief reasons that September 11 worried me more than was commonly expected - because all of the friends I'd made there were American [with the exeption of one Canadian].
Yeah. It was great, people knew me there, for cryinoutloud. *sigh*

So that's my weepy notaligic dodgy typing and spelling PURGED at 11:17 pm nostalgic entry for the day. Anyway, just found out that said Raidix has a livejournal... w00t, so leaving an appreciative comment, muahahah.

I had a similar experience with the somewhat more mysterious figure of CJayC of GameFAQs.

And so I searched Digimon Experience on google, and for the first time in 3 years I went back to that site...
and... It had closed!!!


Why on Earth?

You should try searching for the old TA modding and clan sites... many of them have disappeared off the face of the Internet, which is sad. There used to be an impressive community... but I missed it.
