Today I went to the beach... with Bonnie! Ah, she was so happy. And likes cars. Alot. It was grand. I love, love, love, the ocean. It's the most beautiful thing in the world, bar none. I'm going to have to live by the sea when I get a house, regardless to the damage it causes to cars. I love the fealing of all the crystalised salt on my skin and in my hair [even though I didn't go swimming], and just the smell of it.
I guess my hat counts as 'broken in' now, too. Which is good.
[nyaww, isn't my icon cute? Bonnie!]
A kid asked me why I was wearing a Pirate hat [dutifully replied "because I'm a pirate!"]. Bonnie wore herself out, poor thing.
Saw the... er... Little Dove floating in the Swan River on the way to the ocean, *gurgle* it's such a pretty boat.
Fish and Chips @ Aunty Terry's was fun too, and I fixed her computer! Go me!
Really should get homework done. Damnitall, I don't want to.
Abortion:
Slightly apathetic. I believe that it's a situation where the correct course of action's determined by the circumstances surrounding it. Rape - certainly, if that's what the mother wants. Casual, careless accidents? Hell no. If there's serious danger to the mother [death, brain damage- though I'm not sure how that could happen] yes. In most other cases, no. But like I said, I see it as open ended.
Death Penalty?:
Simmilar to abortion. Gandalf quote coming on, be warned: Some that die deserve life. Some that live deserve death. Can you give it to them? Conditions apply. If there's no question as per their guilt, if they don't want the death penalty, and if their crime was suitably vicious, like torture then murder, the murder of children etc... then yes. But if there's a shadow of doubt, or, in the case of that Bali bomber guy, they want the penalty, or if it allows them to become a martyr, no.
Prostitution?:
Saddens me. Although there's really no excuse for it now - there are things like support groups availiable, it's not like the 1800's anymore - it's their lives. Sad that they feel driven to it though.
Alcohol?:
Mehh. Not fussed, although it would be nice if there were some way of waking people up when they clearly have a problem with the stuff.
Marijuana?:
*cough*prohibition*cough*
I think that it should probably be legalised, mainly because then it can be regulated. I take prohibition as a prime example, and figure that that makes the matter "enough said". Moonshine, heh. But seriously, I think that legalisation would probably stop alot of the problems currently occuring with it. But, it doesn't really effect me - I don't see myself ever getting involved with it or any other drugs, so.. mehh.
Other drugs?:
Probably dumb. But absinthe amuses me greatly, because it's such a fine word. But, uhm, not supporting them, but don't plan on getting involved, so yeah.
Gay marriage?:
It both irritates and saddens me. Irritates because I'm thinking that at the moment being gay is commercialised - which I think is both deeply confusing and wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if it were offensive to people that are gay, too.
Saddens because I don't think it's going to be legalised, and well, if two people are in love and want to make it official, why not let them? However, it *won't* happen universally, ever, for example, some churches won't ever accept it due to their religious beliefs. Which, although I might not agree with, I can sort of understand - people's beliefs, are their beliefs, and they're entitled to them.
But, *shrugs* marriage should be possible for people in love.
Illegal immigrants?:
Don't like the idea of keeping them here, not due to cruelty to them or whatever, but due to the huge cost to the taxpayer that doing this causes. Damnit, I might be closeminded about this, but they can go through the right channels if they want to come here, not sneak in illegally then complain when they're detained at our expense. I understand that in some countries situations are dire, but I don't think we should have to take on other nations problems. Immigrating legally might be difficult, but if you want to come into the country, to live there, etc, it's not such a big thing to ask.
Drunk driving?:
Dumb! No leeway here....
Cloning?:
Mehh. We've been doing it in a non-technological sense for thousands of years. Let it progress at it's current rate. Although, the world is overpopulated as it is - introducing such effective means of healing serious illnesses, although good for the people suffering, does also mean that we, humanity, need to manage our planet better. Unfortunately, I don't think people will, as a whole, have the initiative to both see and act on that fact. But it would be nice.
Racism?:
Grr. Makes me very angry. One of the stupidest things in the world.
Premarital sex?:
Not sure. Not for or against it, really. Almost apathetic, but not really. I don't think it should ever be treated as a casual thing, though, but not necisarrily only until marriage.
Religion?:
I don't really follow a religion as such, but I do like/respect religions and religion in general. I like believing in something [which I do], but I don't like there being *ways* of believing, unless you personally choose to follow them. Everyone's entitled to their beliefs, but I personally can't stand close-mindedness. Which is ironic, really.
The war in Iraq?: Finish what you start.
Bush?: semi-apathetic. Don't hate the man, and I can't say I'd be able to do a better job in his place. I also can't say that someone else would do better, so, I don't really mind. I think he's tried his best in his very diffcult situation, so, although I don't really like him, I can see that he's done the best he can.
Downloading music?:
All Power to the Soviets!
Uh, I mean,
Internet censorship is a terrible thing.
I see it as an honour thing. I, personally, when finding a band/artist/whatever I really like, will eventually buy a CD or two. If I don't like what I've downloaded, I won't listen to it much, & so don't see owning it as much of a crime, or a rip-off to the artist. Of course, I have no problems whatsoever with downloading music if the singer didn't write it themself. It's a thing I have. A contempt issue.
The legal drinking age?:
18 is good with me.
Porn?:
Grr, angry. I hate having to rent those damned things out to people[the only thing that sucks about working at a video rental store. why do we even *stock* that stuff?]. It's icky, yuck.
Suicide?:
Terribly, terribly sad. The idea that someone felt that was the best option is sad. I've been effected by suicide, and it's not nice.
I guess my hat counts as 'broken in' now, too. Which is good.

"If you don't finish me, you'll fail. Fail. FAIL I TELL YOU!"
I get scared do 10 mins then think ahhhh stuff it I'll do it on the day that I should have been at school. The Tuesday and maybe a bit one Satday and Sunday. Otherwise if I did do it before I would have forgotten what i did anyways. (I did do some and I can't even rememeber what I did!)

Date: 2004-04-19 07:05 am (UTC)I think humanity needs culling, but I would not have a child aborted. It gets hazy where 'life' begins and where it is inconsequential because the 'might have been' is as good as alive to me. It is like destroying a planet that could hold life and justifying it by saying it didn't have life on it when you blew it up...
People say rape blah blah blah, but I just don't sympathise. You shouldn't have been stupid enough to get mobbed and even if it was impossible to avoid, I don't see how the fact it's father was a rapist has any bearing on the child. I am a firm believer that you parents have an effect on you, but people are not born evil or to be murderers. Some of my friends are all for it, but I think it is wrong. Period.
(Seriously I tried to understand, but it went straight over my head)
Downloading music
Okay, maybe I am a slight anarchist, but the whole downloading music thing isn't just about music. To me it is like... the last shred of goodwill among humanity. I mean, someone goes to the trouble to share music they have bought with everyone else in the world.. free of charge. They don't even know you and probably never will. It is global sharing, goodwill between nations... it's, ugh, words fail to describe it...
It is legal to smoke Marijuana, you can have one or two plants in your backyard and the cops can't do anything. But if you have more, they call you a dealer and take your house and possessions, so you know. Smoke it at your own risk. :)
Same view on imigrants... war in Iraq? What war in Iraq? To me a war is two sides, almost equal fighting over something. I mean, did Iraq even have a chance at winning?
Gay marriage, I don't know what people see in marriage... but sure. If you want. There is only hysteria over it because it is banned. Rascism is wrong, but there will always be prejudice in the world, if it isn't one thing, it's another. Religion is the cause of all problems, I have no opinion on Bush, Illegal immigrants should stop trying to escape their countries problems and take a hand in fixing it, and cloning... Oh god please not more...
