from the world

That quizz *points* made me think about stuff. And this may be illegible, but yeah.
I was thinking about dreams, and nature, and the world, and what I believe, and I realised that I have a really vast, complicated and confusing system of beliefs.
And that led me to realise that I guess I'm a spiritual person, or whatever it is that's the correct term. It's not so much that I don't know what I believe, it's that I don't know how to explain it to anyone else properly, (or that I lack the patience to do so). I don't really agree totally with any religions, but I don't disagree with any religions either. I think my deepest beliefs currently would be close to Pagan or Wicca or whatever, or at least, my understanding of them (which is amazingly limited, actually, I'm pretty much drawing from thin air here)
Ok. Scratch the last statement, because I have no idea what I'm talking about in that respect.
I believe most strongly in all the really old, common-thread beliefs - that everything is interconnected, and that there's a certain.. awareness about things, especially animals.
Maybe I'm just very natury-foresty-animal-connecty-kinda, but I don't know, I find no place more peaceful and safe than places like the Shannon, which happens to be my favourite place in all the world. It always smells like rain there.
And I think beliefs that've been held for a long time have a certain power about them, too. I like certain prayers, simply because they're so old. It's amazing to think that so many, many, many people have said those same words (well, not the same words but the same meaning) thousands of years ago.
I also think that things like 'black magic' shouldn't be messed with. Like the magic of the shamans of African tribes, I don't think anyone that isn't from those African tribes should be meddling in it, it's just a feeling I have.

Yeah. So that's my unedited rant to get my feelings down, thankyou goodnight!

Dream, the third of The Endless, you are in charge
of the Dreaming, all imagination and
creativity, everyone knows your beautiful
realm, but none truly understand it. You are
dark and brooding, creative, and spend a lot of
time by yourself, just thinking. You are almost
as serious as Destiny, but not quite. Everyone
is enchanted by you, but you keep them all at a
distance, even when you shouldn't.

Which Endless are you?

Yes, but what is 'Black Magic'?
Hell, if I thought it was real I'd utilise it without a moments pause. Without a single moments pause. I think the 'negative' consquences would actually be the best part.

Black Magic is difficult to define.
Its generally felt that it is magic that comes from Satan, or demons, or just generally evil beings.
Also generally causes the damnation of the wielder.
Is considered `stronger` than your more `white` magics, mainly because it has immediate and obvious effect, instead of being subtle.

Heh, spot the Fantasy reader...

[identity profile] tattered-pinion.livejournal.com 2003-11-14 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah yes. But in all honesty I think it's safe to say it doesn't exist in 'real life'. Because really, if it did, we'd know about it.
It's like that accusation made about how D&D spells are real and summon demons and the like. response being "If I could cast spells, wouldn't I be ruling the world or something?"

[identity profile] ummyep.livejournal.com 2003-11-14 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
People say D&D spells are real??

[identity profile] tattered-pinion.livejournal.com 2003-11-14 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Christian reactionists mostly

[identity profile] ummyep.livejournal.com 2003-11-14 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Sad...
My folks have problems with me playing D&D
I find it amusing

[identity profile] tattered-pinion.livejournal.com 2003-11-14 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, the rector of our christian college gave us permission to use the school grounds for D&D. HE's a priest type dude and doesn't mind.

[identity profile] ummyep.livejournal.com 2003-11-14 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
He must realise that it's just a game.

[identity profile] tattered-pinion.livejournal.com 2003-11-14 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Or he's a secret satanic magister.

[identity profile] ummyep.livejournal.com 2003-11-14 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
HA!
How cool would that be!

[identity profile] tattered-pinion.livejournal.com 2003-11-14 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Imagine going into his office 10 minutes early for an interview and walking into the middle of a satanic ritual

[identity profile] ummyep.livejournal.com 2003-11-14 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
So long as you dont then become the sacrifice...

[identity profile] bloodied-aura.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
That's not what I meant, I meant Black Magic as in, that's what European settlers called the 'magic' of the tribal people of Africa.
Just the very oldness of it all is why I would never go near it

[identity profile] ummyep.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
Ohh, I see.
I know next to nothing about that, I know its a sort of Shamanism, but thats all

[identity profile] bloodied-aura.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
it's creepy, creepy "mess with it not, dude" stuff

[identity profile] arinellen.livejournal.com 2003-11-14 08:13 am (UTC)(link)
I wish you had the time to explain everything too me. I have this horrible habit of wanting to know everyones beliefs, I feel that some how, some where, someone will say something that I know is right, and it will click, until then I stay agnostic...

[identity profile] bloodied-aura.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmmm... If I find a concise way of explaining my beliefs, I'll make sure to tell you :)

[identity profile] ummyep.livejournal.com 2003-11-14 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
It might be worth you looking into Druidism
It is a valid religion, even now
Eamonn is a druid.

[identity profile] bloodied-aura.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
That, is nifty. I think I will. Thanks

[identity profile] ummyep.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
No problems.
I'll ask Eamonn to give you a ring if you like, or I can give you his number perhaps.

[identity profile] bloodied-aura.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
hmm, does he have an email addy?

[identity profile] ummyep.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
I never think about that, I guess Im just too lowtech...
He does, as he works in IT, but I dont know what it is.
I'll have it soon though.

[identity profile] bloodied-aura.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 06:08 am (UTC)(link)

I'm going to sound uneducated but I must know, is that yours or did you steal it and if you stole it where is it from?

[identity profile] bloodied-aura.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
I wrote it.. hehe, you like-e?

[identity profile] arinellen.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
