I'm probably going to do some kind of annoying running tally of what I've completed, so if you aren't interested you probably shouldn't click my links for the next few days, haha. Though most of the drawings will end up being A3ish sized, so I may just scan them and put them up on Deviantart for your perusal. I'd probably be pretty loud about doing that though.

This isn't a final drawing, but that's the style I will be doing all my final drawings in. I think it's kinda neat. Actually no, I think it's freaking awesome. FINALLY SOMETHING IS GOING MY WAY THIS SEMESTER. YES.

Also after a semester of having a model a week, asking for a 1:200 model for final submission (Ie. the only one that's worth anything) is pretty damn disappointing. I have mad model skillz now! But I shouldn't complain, it is significantly less work to do a 1:200 model (smaller than an A4) than it is to do a 1:50 (whole building would be larger than A2, which is 4xA4, part model is A4-ish), but still. I had plans for this model. Big Ones.

Anyway. Gonna go wash mah haiiiiiiyah.

What sort of drawing programms do you use for achitecture? My flatmates are always complaining about the difference inbetween echal or something and archical or something. It's like- wuh? w/e so I was wondering what you use!

I use autoCAD for 2d drawings... so far as I know that's the original dinosaur program (it has a command line, basically if you're insane enough you can draw things by typing in co-ordinates and dimensions haha), although I'd like to use ArchiCAD because it has cooler things, like you say I want to draw a double brick wall and it has a built in thing where it draws that convention for you, you just click places (zomg that would be so much easier).


Aaand for 3d renders I use 3ds MAX which is by the same company that does AutoCAD, Autodesk. Apparently 3ds MAX is a much more pro program (hehe) than CAD though, because games companies like Blizzard use it.

but yeeesh. They only ask us to use autoCAD for drawings, but i think next year I'm going to get me some ArchiCAD action.

I'm doing this folio by hand, though, because I'm too retarded to figure out how to make cad fill stuff for my shadow drawings. O___o

Oh god, YES, that was what they were talking about. Apparently with one of those: autocad and archicad if you make a change in one picture you have to manually do it for the rest of the folios, etc.,

By hand?!?!? Ask people how to make shadow drawings!!! Less work and architect-wannabes NEED less work and more time and more coffee and more cigarettes. I'm amazed that I don't know any architect that takes speed.

oh yes... in CAD everything is manual. EVERYTHING. It's basically just lines on a page that don't mean anything as far as the computer is concerned. ArchiCAD on the other hand, knows things, and if you chage some thing it allegedly changes the other drawings for you. SWEET>

hand is actually less work, it's much faster because I'm more used to it... but I agree. It's hilarious. everyone swears, and everyone smokes. Not me yet though (well, with the smokes anyway). Instead I get retardedly drunk if I have the chance.

However I'm sure it's more a case of people not being overt about it rather than it not happening. Haha.


the other bad thing about architecture is that you spend so much time drawing you forget how to spell. like cynicism up there? no idea if that's right. but I think it is.
