Chris Mainwaring died!
:(
This actually upsets me greatly.
He was my first "sporting hero," possibly even my first case of "omg celebrity <3*" (I can't remember if Quinn Mallery from Sliders came first, I think it probably would have been Mainwaring). I can distinctly remember getting the 1994 West Coast Eagles poster out of the newspaper, and over the season collecting the players every week.
Chris Mainwaring was my favourite, because he had such nice blonde hair, and he reminded me of MacGuyver (or it could have been that later on MacGuyver reminded me of him).
I even met him twice! He used to kinda host St Brigid's craft fair, and I went up and talked to him a few times. He always seemed nice.
So I'm sad now. I haven't really (that I recall) felt actually sad about the death of a celebrity before. Although I suppose he was kind of a special celebrity to me.
* not <3 as in Ommgzzzzz I loves youuu but more <3 as in omg you're completely awesome. I was 7, after all.
