Bonnie has done her knee in, she's torn both of the ligaments which (I think) hold her knee cap in place, and also the two main bones are now all wobbly. Apparently it's not a very painful injury though, which is good. (The vet likened it to when an AFL player does his knee in - many of them want to keep playing becuase they're not in that much pain, and their doctors are all "Lol no, knee reconstruction timez") She's getting operated on on Monday, so.. yes. I'm pretty worried about her, but the vet said it's a fairly simple procedure and that she's not in any pain waiting for the operation, so, that's good.
It means she will get arthritis in her knee now, though, which makes me sad. I was worried that my parents wouldn't feel the same way as I do about her (that no expense shall be spared), but they do, so that's good. Luckily we remembered the vet that Aunty Topsie used to take her doggets to, though - they're less than half the price (the first vet we took Bon to said $1200, these guys said $450-500), and I can remember now that Auntie Topsie was saying that they're over priced (the first guys) and it shows, because there were heaps of dogs and cats waiting to see the second vet, where Bonnie was the only patient in the whole building at the first clinic. So hopefully that means that this vet is also the best vet. Or at least, they have to be pretty good if so many people take their pets there, right?
(Yes I am still worried about her, although much less than I was before - now it's more of a "I hope she recovers as well as possible and is able to use her leg normally again)
In other news, Gypsie is still doing well, and I just went out to check on them and they're all curled around each other and it's the sweetest thing ever.
So it's been a pretty dramatic week - Birthday, Puppy, Bonnie has her first injury... :/ my poor girl. I had a nightmare that she had to have her leg removed. At least that doesn't need to be done.
